Guided Horse Back Riding

adventure activity     easy - moderate

There are now several day tours to choose from (or ask for a bespoke ride) when you sign up for a guided horseback ride. Our rides start from Hanna Stables, where you will be dropped off to meet your horse.

San Lorenzo Farm Ride

Enjoy a private guided horse ride on the San Lorenzo Farm. This is an organic eco farm that boasts 400 acres of pasture and forest. The ride is leisurely and highly educational – perfect for families and novice riders. Ride through wide open farmlands as well as covered jungle trails, which follow the Mopan River. Along the way you are likely to encounter a variety of bird species, orchids as well as experience the sights and smells of the tropical rain forest. The San Lorenzo ride has a duration of 2 1⁄2 to 3 hours.

Actun Kan Ride

You can also opt to visit Actun Kan which is an unexcavated Mayan city. Here, you can appreciate how nature reclaims its own, as the entire city is under grass land and wooded areas. The great mounds are a sign of what was once a great thriving city. When you climb up to the main temple; you can appreciate the valley bellow and the breath taking canopy of a tropical jungle. Also, if it’s a lucky day and they’re feeling sociable; you will be able to experience an up close encounter with howler monkeys. Fording the river on horseback is a thrill for all as you get to feel the power of horse and water all in one.

The Actun Kan Ride takes about 2 hours.

Xunantunich or Cahal Pech Ride

You can now opt to combine a horseback ride with a Mayan tour. Spend a couple of hours riding to Xunantunich or Cahal Pech. There you will have the option to engage a private guide to tour the ruin. You can also opt to have lunch at Benny’s which serves excellent Belizean dishes.
