Black Rock guests have the option to participate in many unique activities available on site in addition to various tours of the culturally rich surrounding attractions. Our excellent guides are eager to share their knowledge and enthusiasm for the natural and historical offerings of this spectacular location.

On Site Activities:

Black Rock's magnificent rainforest location on the banks of the Macal River in the Maya Mountains enables our guests to experience the best in outdoor activities and adventures. Black Rock activities vary from thrilling, high adventure options to tranquil and accessible choices. Activities include canoeing, tubing, hiking, birding, mountain biking, swimming, night hiking, and caving.

Black Rock's 242 acre location along the banks of the Macal River, with over 1100 feet of elevation change from the Macal River to the various mountain peaks and canyon ridges, lends itself to viewing nearly 300 species of spectacular resident and migratory birds. The diversity of the Lodge’s geological and habitat surroundings affords guests the ability to easily see a vast variety of both common and extremely rare species.

In addition to Black Rock on site activities, we also offer guided expeditions to the splendid Mayan  sites of Caracol, Tikal, Xunantunich, El Pilar and Yaxha. Plus excursions such as the Actun Cave (ATM), Inland Blue Hole, Mountain Pine Ridge, River Cave Tubing, Canopy zip-lining, Community Baboon Sanctuary, Belize Zoo, Barton Creek Cave, Che Chem Ha Cave, and the Guanacaste National Park. These fun and immersive tours provide guests with an in-depth introduction to the culture and history of the region.

Yoga & Conferences:

The Lodge’s 25’ x 40’ Yoga/Conference palapa is a spectacular place to enjoy your own yoga practice during your stay, or to host your own company or group’s conference/retreat.

We welcome business retreats and student groups and would be happy to compile to cater to any group.
